DENVER– A pedestrian was hit and killed while crossing a street in west Denver late Wednesday night, the Denver police Department said.

The crash happened at West Alameda Avenue and South Pecos Street, police said.

The victim was a man, whose name and age weren’t released.

The driver stayed at the scene and drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.

Police shut down Alameda in both directions between Pecos and Raritan streets during the investigation. It later reopened.
