DENVER — A driver was killed when a semitruck and a pickup truck crashed on Interstate 70 late Saturday night, the Denver Police Department said.

Police said the crash happened just before midnight in the eastbound lanes at Interstate 25.

The semitruck caught on fire and the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene, police said.

The pickup truck driver was later arrested in Denver and is being held on investigation of vehicular homicide, police said.

The crash closed both directions of I-70 near Interstate 25 for several hours overnight. Westbound lanes reopened around 5:30 a.m.

All lanes of eastbound I-70 reopened around 3:25 p.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
