FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A motorcyclist is dead after a hit-and-run on northbound Interstate 25 near Fort Collins early Thursday morning.

Kassy Mae Winburn, 34, was arrested after the crash, according Colorado State Patrol.

The name of the motorcycle rider killed has not been released.

Police had accused the driver of the car of running off after hitting the motorcycle rider.

The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. between Exit 268 (Prospect Road) and Exit 265 (CO 68; Harmony Road).

A perimeter was set up for a time along the highway looking for the driver.

Southbound lanes were closed for several hours but have reopened.
