ESTES PARK, Colo. — A fire heavily damaged a lodge in Estes Park on Saturday night but officials said there were no injuries.

Authorities say Marys Lake Lodge caught fire on Saturday night. The fire was confined to the main lodge, which had significant damage.

The fire was reported shortly after 8 p.m. when there were about 250 people in the lodge, including a wedding party. All were evacuated safely.

About 50 firefighters battled the fire, which was brought under control by about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

One witness said it appeared the fire caused the building’s roof to collapse.

It is unclear how the fire started. Crews arrived Sunday morning to begin investigating.

According to the lodge’s website, the building was built in 1913 and is a popular venue for weddings.

It features a number of hotel rooms and condominiums. In 1978, a fire destroyed the south wing of the building while it was operated under the name Estes Park Chalet.

Officials from Estes Park said an emergency shelter has been established for those displaced by the fire at Mountain View Church (1575 S. Saint Vrain Ave.).
