ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A suspect who was being sought after a double shooting left a man dead and a woman injured on Thursday morning was found dead, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday night.

Authorities were searching for Anthony “Angel” Darby, 28, in connection to the shooting in the 1100 block of South Clinton Street, near East Mississippi Avenue.

They found his vehicle at an apartment complex near South Yosemite Street and Interstate 225 in Denver about 4:30 p.m.

“As a tactical team was preparing to approach the vehicle, the suspect appeared, saw law enforcement officers, and fled to a nearby apartment,” the sheriff’s office said.

The apartment was surrounded and law enforcement officers entered the apartment about 6 p.m. They found Darby dead in the apartment with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No one else was in the apartment at the time.

The earlier shooting happened in a multiresidential complex about 8:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. Neither one was identified and it’s not known what the relationship among the three is.

A spokeswoman said investigators believe the shooting is related to a domestic disturbance that deputies responded to at 4:30 a.m. at the same location.

There were minor injuries in the early-morning disturbance, but no one was taken to a hospital, the spokeswoman said.

What led to the shooting is under investigation.
