DENVER (KDVR) – The Denver Police Department has been searching for a suspect wanted in connection to a 2015 homicide investigation that remains unsolved to this day.

DPD investigators need your help finding the person suspected of shooting and killing Daerius Rashaud Churchill seven years ago.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers has had a reward on the table for anyone who could come forward, anonymous or otherwise, to give information on this case and the suspect’s whereabouts. On Thursday, the organization temporarily raised that reward to $25,000 in an effort to get this case closed.

Therell Churchill said her plea as a mother is that someone will come forward soon.

“I know that it takes a lot and a lot of courage, but I’m asking for anybody to help my son’s case get solved because he deserves justice,” she told FOX31. Churchill struggles to cope with the loss each day.

Police responded in the early evening hours of Jan. 4, 2015, to reports of gunfire in the area of East Bruce Randolph Avenue and Steele Street. They located the victim and transported him to a nearby hospital where he was later declared dead.

The increased reward will only be available until July 19, 2022.
