DENVER (KDVR) — Police are investigating a shooting that happened inside a McDonald’s in Commerce City on Thursday.
It happened around 12:15 p.m. near 60th Avenue and Parkway Drive, according to the Commerce City Police Department.
A 16-year-old was shot inside the bathroom at the fast-food restaurant, police said. The shooter fled the scene.
“I was leaving, getting ready to run a couple of errands, when I heard the gunshot as I was getting ready to walk out the door,” said Frank, who works at the Taco Bell next door. He did not want to release his last name.
“My worry is: A little kid got shot. What does that say about the neighborhood?” Frank said.
Police said they do not believe the shooting was random. They said the teen’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
The restaurant was closed for the investigation but had reopened by 3:30 p.m.
No suspect information has been released.
