BRIGHTON, Colo. — A middle school teacher in Brighton has been charged with four counts of sexual assault on a child, 17th Judicial District Attorney Dave Young announced on Wednesday.

Rory Seeman, a former teacher at Overland Trail Middle School, is charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and two counts of sexual assault on a child.

Seeman allegedly assaulted two seventh-grade girls, then ages 11 and 12, between August and November last year.

He was placed on administrative leave by the school district in January after the allegations against him.

He later resigned on May 18.

A preliminary hearing for Seeman will be set in Adams County Court at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

School District 27J released a statement regarding the charges.

“The Adams County District Attorney announced this morning that they are pressing felony charges against former Overland Trail Middle School teacher, Rory Seeman. A warrant for Mr. Seeman’s arrest was issued on Tuesday, May 29 and Mr. Seeman is expected to surrender himself to authorities sometime today.

Mr. Seeman was placed on administrative leave in January due to accusations made against him. He resigned from employment with School District 27J on May 18, 2018.

District officials have spoken to all parties involved in this matter and conducted their own investigation of the accusations brought forward. The District will continue to work in cooperation with the DA’s office until this matter is resolved.
