AURORA, Colo. — A bear was on the loose in a neighborhood near Southlands shopping center on Tuesday, the Aurora Police Department said.

Officers worked with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office in tracking down the bear in the 23500 block of East Briarwood Drive, south of the shopping center.

The bear was later tracked to near Arapahoe Road and E-470, police said.

Officers later found the bear, but it wouldn’t come out of a retention pond so it was left alone.
