AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department is investigating a shooting involving officers that happened Tuesday night at the Wolf’s Motor Inn.
Police said the incident started at 15691 East Colfax Avenue around 7:15 p.m. when the Aurora Police Department’s SWAT Team was called to apprehend a suspect at the hotel.
APD said crisis negotiators tried to get a suspect to surrender peacefully for several hours, however, police said he refused.
Police said they learned that a woman was also in the suspect’s room while they were trying to negotiate with the suspect.
At around 10:04 p.m., an officer heard a gunshot coming from the room. SWAT Officers forced entry into the room and more shots were fired and the suspect was shot, according to APD.
The suspect was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Two SWAT Officers who entered the room also received minor injuries during the incident.
The Critical Incident Response Team for the 17th Judicial District responded and will be investigating this officer involved shooting incident.
