BRIGHTON, Colo. (KDVR) — Brighton Fire was working on a technical rescue on Peregrine Drive where one person was trapped in a large trench.
According to the Brighton Fire Chief, a member of a construction company fell into a large trench. Around 1 p.m., a construction crew member was excavating a very deep hole when they fell in. The worker became buried by soil and dirt, and the worker’s crew members were unable to see the worker.
“They lost a member of their company today, we’re hopeful that there is still a chance, but it’s been over an hour,” said the Brighton Police Chief.
Brighton PD reported a body was recovered at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Crews worked for two hours to secure the trench before they were able to recover the body of a 35-year-old man. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, is working with Brighton PD on the investigation into what led to the deadly accident.
