DENVER — The Bluebell Fire burning southwest of central Evergreen has prompted officials to order residents to evacuate. About 100 homes are threatened, fire officials estimated.

The fire is reported to be in the area of 33528 Bluebell Circle. It appears it began as a structure fire. The fire is less than four acres but is creating some spot fires, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Evacuation orders are in effect for four miles around Bluebell. The four-mile radius extends south to Highway 285, north to Buffalo Park Road, east to Highway 73, and west to Jefferson County line.

Conifer High School has been designated as a shelter for residents. Officials asked residents to evacuate large animals to the Fairgrounds and small animals to Foothills Animal Shelter if needed.
