AURORA, Colo. -- A lightning bolt hit a tree and shattered some windows in an Aurora neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. It put quite a scare into some residents there, too.
"I was sitting in my living room at my table... all of a sudden it was just this loud, loud noise like a bomb dropped. It was like we were getting attacked... this is it, we're getting attacked. Today's the day," says Alexandria Bowser.
The bolt hit near Lansing St. and E. 6th Ave. Parts of a tree were scattered in the neighborhood, and there were a number of broken windows on homes. A car near where the lightning hit was also damaged.
"It was so loud the ground shook, the lights were flickering," Bowser said.
Strong thunderstorms developed over metro Denver late Wednesday afternoon. Lightning, thunder, rain and small hail were reported.
The storms moved out of the state Wednesday night. Drier conditions were forecast for Thursday and Friday.
