LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A crash on West Alameda Avenue and South Teller Street killed one person Sunday morning.
The collision and detailed investigation afterward forced the Lakewood Police Department to close eastbound Alameda about three blocks east of South Wadsworth Boulevard.
Police were advised people to avoid the area during the investigation.
Witnesses told police that a silver Honda on South Teller Street went through a red light at about 40 mph. A dark-colored SUV had the green light on eastbound Alameda and hit the silver car.
A spokeswoman for Lakewood police said the driver of the car died at the scene. The driver in the SUV was not hurt.
The road reopened about 12:30 p.m.
