LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A Lakewood mother is accused of pimping out her 12-year-old daughter to a man in exchange for money and gifts.

Julie Greiner is charged with human trafficking of a minor for sexual servitude, pimping of a child and sexual assault of a child. Lakewood police said Greiner turned a blind eye to an online sexual relationship between her daughter and 23-year-old Thomas Keski in Australia.

The girl reportedly met Keski in an online chatroom. Court documents detail a sexual romance through texts and video chats. According to police, the girl’s mother knew about it and took advantage of the situation.

The 14-page arrest affidavit references explicit chats between the girl and Keski, nude and seminude photographs, and sex toys found in the girl’s bedroom that were allegedly purchased by Keski.

Keski supposedly wired Greiner around $10,000 to pay for bills. Court documents show Greiner used some of that money to buy an engagement ring for the 12-year-old. The girl also reportedly received expensive jewelry, electronics and other gifts from Keski.

Police said Greiner and her daughter went on a trip to Hawaii with Keski that he paid for.

According to court documents, in a text message between Keski and the girl, she asks, “Do you think we’ll even be able to kiss in Hawaii?” He responded, “Of course, we can do anything, your mum just has to say we didn’t.”

Court documents also show that when investigators asked Greiner if Keski didn’t have any money if she still would have allowed them to meet, “Julie paused and said she probably would have.”

“Unfortunately, it’s a very big problem,” said Leora Joseph, chief deputy district attorney for the 18th Judicial District.

Joseph said prosecutors in Colorado continue to see more similar cases with online predators.

“I think at first there’s an attraction, there’s a feeling of special. They think it could be a boyfriend,” Joseph said. “And I think very quickly that relationship goes from exciting and adventurous to very scary.”

Greiner is being held at Jefferson County Jail without bond. Keski has been arrested in Australia.
