Keystone skier dies after colliding with tree

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — A skier died Saturday after colliding with a tree at Keystone Resort.

The Summit County Coroner responded to the Keystone Medical Center at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Saturday after the death of a 46-year-old male skier was reported.

According to a release from the county’s coroner office, the skier struck a tree between the intermediate trails of Porcupine and Bighorn at Keystone Resort.

He was wearing a helmet.

The Keystone Ski Patrol performed advanced life support, after which the victim was transported to Keystone Medical Center, said the release. Doctors were unable to resuscitate the victim.

The victim’s name is being withheld until his family is notified.
