WASHINGTON — The Justice Department says it is refunding millions of dollars to Qwest customers ripped off by its former CEO Joe Nacchio.

Nacchio was convicted of insider trading in 2007, and many employees lost their retirement funds after Nacchio illegally sold off stocks.

He was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay millions of dollars in fines.

The Justice Department says $44 million has been returned to more than 100,000 fraud victims.
