Sandlin was in the maximum security pod for crimes that included burglary, theft and drugs. He was in the outdoor recreation area when he pushed through the wiring, jumped two stories and ran off.
It’s the first time in the 27-year history of the facility that an inmate has escaped. Sandlin is a registered sex offender with a long rap sheet. Numerous agencies continue to look for him.
