JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Police say a Jefferson County woman is suspected of stabbing her husband to death Monday morning before stabbing herself.

Police found 79-year-old Michael P. Schreiber bleeding from the chest at his home in the 7800 block of W. Ontario Place just before 8:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man was lying in the front yard.

Officers found that his wife, Sandra Lee Schreiber, 69, was also suffering from a stab wound. Both were taken to Littleton Hospital, where Michael was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigators determined that Sandra stabbed her husband, and that her stab wound was self-inflicted.

Sandra remains in the hospital. She will be booked on suspicion of first-degree murder when she is released, according to police.
