ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — Accused Aurora theater shooter James Holmes has returned to Arapahoe County.
The Pueblo Chieftain reports he is no longer a patient at the state mental hospital in Pueblo.
Psychiatrists spent nearly two weeks evaluating Holmes. They’re trying to figure out if he knew right from wrong at the time of the shooting that killed 12 people last summer.
He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
Depending on the results of Holmes’ evaluation, his lawyers may have to withdraw his insanity plea.
His trial is scheduled to begin in February 2014.
