LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Police have released the identities of the man and woman who led them on a short chase following a shoplifting incident at a Lakewood Walmart Tuesday.

Jamie Lee Carrillo, 28, and Angelo Erin Arellano, 29, were arrested Tuesday on aggravated robbery, theft, felony menacing, child abuse and several traffic violation charges, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

At approximately 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the Walmart at Colfax Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood on reports of a man and woman attempting to leave the store with several items of merchandise.

Witnesses told police that the two suspects had revealed some type of handgun when they were approached by a Walmart security guard.

Upon arrival, police said they saw the suspects leave in a gray SUV.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but it managed to leave the area and headed northbound on Wadsworth Boulevard before turning east onto 20th Avenue.

As the car entered Denver, officers from the Denver Police Department joined the pursuit.

The vehicle eventually stopped around 12th Avenue and Perry Street.

Arellano exited the car and fled the scene on foot.

Carrillo stayed in the vehicle with a small child, police said. She was then taken into custody and the child was placed in foster care.

For over an hour, police continued to search for Arellano in the area with the help of a K9 unit.

Around 1 p.m., authorities located Arellano and arrested him. He was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for a bite from a K9 unit dog.

Both were booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
