ICE detainee dies in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. — A man from Gabon who was in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), died after complaining about chest pains.

Evalin-Ali Mandza, 46, was sent to Aurora Medical Center in an ambulance Thursday at 6:30 a.m. from the ICE detention facility in Aurora. He died two hours later at the hospital.

Mandza had been in custody since October 24, 2011.

Officials say he had no history of chest pains or heart problems. The coroner’s office will determine his exact cause of death.

ICE notified the Gabon consulate about Mandza’s death.
