DENVER — Both directions of Interstate 70 at Floyd Hill will be closed tonight as Xcel Energy crews reinstall a high-voltage power line across the highway.

The power line fell when a sand truck flipped and hit a power pole April 1. The crash closed the interstate for several hours.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said I-70 will close at 9 p.m. and should be back open Friday morning around 4 a.m.

Westbound traffic will detour off I-70 at the Beaver Brook exit and use U.S. 40 to the bottom of Floyd Hill. Eastbound traffic exits I-70 at U.S. 6 and can travel up Floyd Hill via U.S. 40 or continue east on Highway 6 to Golden.
