THORNTON, Colo. — A husband and wife were carjacked at gunpoint outside of their home early Wednesday morning, the Thornton Police Department said. It happened in the 1500 block of East 130th Court about 5:40 a.m., police said.

Two suspects drove up to the house in a blue Honda Civic and held the man and wife with a semiautomatic handgun. One of the suspects then carjacked the couple’s gray Hyundai Sonata, police said.

Police spotted the stolen Sonata, which has a Colorado license plate of 328-THI, southbound on Interstate 25 and chased it onto westbound West 84th Avenue. But officers lost sight of the vehicle near 84th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard, and the chase was called off.

Police said the suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 18 to 20 years old. He was wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.

Police are continuing to look for both vehicles.
