Human remains found near Eldora ski resort identified as Denver man

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — The human remains found at Eldora Mountain Ski Resort in July have been identified as belonging to a Denver man.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Ervin Mettler. The remains were found on July 16 near the resort in Nederland.

The cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

The remains are believed to be related to the severed foot found at the base of the mountain resort on June 1.

The boot recovered in June was a men’s left Rugged Outback apex leather snow boot, size 13. A men’s right Rugged Outback apex leather snow boot, size 13, was found with the remains discovered in July.

An autopsy will be completed, and the cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
