EATON, Colo. — The story of a Colorado pastor who survived a tanker explosion last week touched a lot of viewers. It also helped connect the pastor with the man who saved his life.
Pastor Jason Newby of Eaton got a visit from Turner Lagpacan in the hospital Monday. Turner, with the help of his girlfriend tied a tourniquet around Newby’s leg in the aftermath of the explosion in Oklahoma.
The two men had been trying to save a tanker truck driver who collided with a semi on Interstate 35 Friday morning. They were about to attempt a rescue when the truck exploded.
A piece of metal shot through Newby’s leg. Turner, a SWAT medic, helped move Newby to safety and then wrapped his leg. The men were separated after the incident, but Turner reached out to us after seeing the original story, and we were happy to connect them.
