EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — Heavy rain over the Waldo Canyon burn scar in El Paso County caused a mudslide and the closure of US Highway 24 Wednesday afternoon.
You can see why in the video clip above. Racing black mud and water flowed along the road near Cave of the Winds.
Ed Flanagan of Manitou Motion Pictures was in his vehicle when the wall of water and mud came racing down Highway 24. He was able to capture some amazing video of a car being swept away.

The Colorado Springs Police Department says westbound Hwy 24 was closed at 31st St. and eastbound Hwy 24 was closed at Cascade. It reopened around 7 p.m.
The Pikes Peak Chapter of the American Red Cross wasted no time opening a shelter.
