WASHINGTON — A man lived for more than 20-years with a half-pound “egg” mass inside his stomach, according to a recent medical journal article.

The mass resembled a hard-boiled egg due to its shape and “firm, rubbery” texture, according to the New England Journal of Medicine.

The 62-year-old subject had the mass removed in 2013, but the details of the case, including images, were only released recently, FOX8 reported.

The article said the mass is a peritoneal loose body, which is not uncommon but doesn’t usually grow to this size. When it does become large, it can be “associated with bowel obstruction, urinary retention, or (as in this patient) urinary frequency,” the journal said.
