HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Children’s Hospital Colorado has a new location that is serving families in the Highlands Ranch area.
The 180,000 square-foot facility just off C-470 and Lucent Boulevard features the only 24-hour pediatric urgent care facility in South Metro Denver.
The hospital also offers a wide range of outpatient specialty clinics surgery care along with state-of-the-art imaging and diagnostic tools.
Dr. Alison Brent said the hospital did extensive research on the needs of the area including interviewing parents and adds.
“They very much wanted their Children’s Hospital in their backyard,” Brent said. “We listened to everything that they said and we built them what they needed here.”
The hospital features the state’s first MRI with what’s called “ambient experience.”
The MRI allows doctors to see the body in amazing detail. It is a large machine and can create an intimidating and frightening experience for kids.
The “ambient experience” combines colorful projections, special lighting and even music to help little ones relax.
The new south campus facility also features twelve patient rooms with sleeping accommodations for moms and dads.
“They can have our service right here in a convenient time period that meets their family needs,” said Vice President Andrea Feretti.
A sports medicine program will serve the needs of active kids. More than 25 specialty outpatient clinics will open at the facility on Jan. 6 , 2014.
