DENVER — A warning about one of Chobani yogurt’s most popular flavors means the ingredient list is now changing.

A company spokesperson tells FOX31 Denver they are taking the hemp seeds out of the popular Blueberry Flip flavor.

The Air Force is warning military personnel not to eat the Blueberry Flip flavor because the military fears the seeds may affect drug tests.

The other flavors do not contain the seeds. Some varieties of hemp may contain THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.  But many researchers say the 10 grams in the yogurt isn’t likely to affect the outcome of a test.

Laura Bechtel of Forensic Laboratories says, “The amount in the seeds that are imported, the husks are removed in the wash so they have very low levels of THC if any at all.”

FOX31 Denver contacted Chobani and received this statement: “We’ve heard some concerns from the military community about Chobani products containing hemp seeds, and want to set the record straight. Except for Blueberry Power Chobani Flip, no Chobani product contains hemp seeds. However, we’re committed to giving our fans what they want and are in the process of removing this ingredient from our Blueberry Power Chobani Flip. We greatly respect our armed forces and take pride in serving our troops.”
