DENVER — Denver’s skyline is about to change — again — after crews with international real estate firm Hines broke ground on a 40-story skyscraper on Tuesday.

The 662,000-square-foot skyscraper will include 27 stories of office space built atop 13 stories of retail shops, restaurants, a state-of-the-art fitness center and more than 800 parking spaces.

The project at 1144 15th St. — between Arapahoe and Lawrence streets — will cost more than $141 million and is expected to be completed in January 2018.

It will be the first skyscraper of at least 40 stories built in Denver in nearly 30 years.

“1144 Fifteenth will set a new standard for Denver’s high-rise office space and enhance our city’s urban experience,” Hines Managing Director Jay Despard said.
