GREELEY, Colo. — A Greeley man was arrested earlier this month after allegedly stealing hundreds of pairs of women’s underwear, the Greeley Police Department reported.

Joey Eugene Gallegos, 39, was arrested Aug. 1 on suspicion of stealing women’s underwear from the laundry room of an apartment complex in the 1800 block of 30th Street, GPD reported. He was then linked to at least two previous burglaries at the complex, including one incident where someone broke into a woman’s apartment through a window, stole various clothing and electronics, and left behind an empty condom wrapper.

Police served a search warrant on Gallegos’ residence, which he shares with his father. Investigators found more than 350 articles of women’s clothing, mostly panties and bras, piled two feet deep on the suspect’s bed.

After his arrest on theft and burglary charges, Gallegos admitted to stealing the items for sexual reasons, according to a GPD report. He told police that he “first became interested” in acquiring the underwear at age 8.

One woman who had her clothing stolen identified more than 20 items that belonged to her in photos police took at the scene.

GPD asked that anyone who believes their clothes may be among the missing items contact Detective Matt Walsh at 970-350-9549
