FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A fight over a flag at a Fort Collins pool party sent one man to the hospital Saturday night.

The incident happened at the The Grove Apartments near the Colorado State University campus around 4 p.m., the Fort Collins Police Department said.

Officials said the men were arguing about which one of their U.S. flags should be higher.

The argument turned into a shoving match, then 25-year-old, Todd Hesser, fell and hit his head on the concrete, police said.

Hesser was unresponsive and unconscious when he was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies. Police said Hesser and another unnamed male had been drinking at the party.

The Coloradoan reported police had identified a 20-year-old suspect.  No arrests have been made.

Hesser had serious injuries but was listed in fair condition Sunday night.

Investigators will wait to talk with Hesser before deciding whether charges will be filed.
