DENVER — Two flight attendants and two passengers were hurt after a US Airways flight took a frightening turn over the weekend. According to the airline, flight 496 from Phoenix to Denver experienced severe turbulence.

Iva O’Connor says she was on the flight.

“The plane just dropped, it literally dropped, and it didn’t stop dropping,” O’Connor said.  Then, she says it pitched forward.  “I couldn’t fathom that we weren’t going to crash because we were going down so fast. There were people screaming on the plane.  I could hear people puking.  There were people praying.”

She knew people were hurt, but the plane eventually leveled out and landed.  Her question- “What the heck happened?”

The four injured people were taken to an area hospital for treatment.  They have since been released.  The plane was inspected and put back into service.  US Airways says it is working with the NTSB to investigate the incident.
