COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Two Fort Carson soldiers were charged this week with raping a 17-year-old girl while she was intoxicated during a party in October of 2014.
According to court documents, 20-year-old Spc. Noel Acevedo-Mercado and 19-year-old Pfc. John Donathan met the teen at a party in the foothills outside of Colorado Springs. The party eventually broke up, but some young people reconvened at the victim’s mother’s house, where no parents were present.
The victim told police she became ill after drinking half a bottle of whiskey and went to a bedroom to rest. The suspects followed her and took turns raping her, then briefly refused to let her leave the room, she told police.
The soldiers have not yet made any comment, or entered pleas to the charges against them.
