AURORA, Colo. -- A former police officer from Mexico was under arrest Friday night. He's suspected of at least two sexual assaults here.

25-year-old Ricardo Corral Venegas was in Arapahoe County jail on accusations that he attacked two women in Aurora.

Police credit the courage of one woman for getting him off of the streets.

A woman called police to her apartment Thursday afternoon after she said a man knocked on her door, asked for a drink of water and then tried to force his way inside.

She fought free and called for help.

Police found the suspect at a nearby restaurant and arrested him. They said they found him with a bag that had zip ties in it.

They said they also found clothes and a large kitchen knife he abandoned behind a bank.

Investigators realized the M.O. and description matched the suspect who attacked another woman in the same apartment complex earlier this month.

According to police reports, in that case, he forced open the door, tackled the woman and pulled out a butcher knife.

In the report, they said he "motioned to put her baby down" and repeatedly sexually assaulted her "as she pleaded 'please no.'"

The report said he then told her, "If she called police he would kill her and her son and that people were watching her."

After Thursday's arrest investigators found out Corral Venegas was a former police officer in Mexico and that he's wanted for multiple sexual assaults there.

Media accounts call him the "motorist rapist" because he's accused of using a red motorcycle and pretending to be a courier while sexually assaulting his victims.

Aurora police said he told them he came to Colorado three months ago and had a "dual personality."

Investigators think it's possible there may be other victims and ask anyone with information to call them.

Corral Venegas is jailed for investigation of sex assault, kidnapping and burglary. He's also on a hold for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Agents believe he entered the United States illegally.
