EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — Former El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa was indicted Wednesday on felony charges of extortion, tampering with a witness and kidnapping.

Maketa left office in 2014 amid accusations that he had affairs with several employees and gave them preferential treatment.

Two of his employees, including one of those women, also face charges.

Maketa is also charged with first-degree official misconduct, a misdemeanor.
