BERTHOUD, Colo. — The Berthoud police officer who was fired last October pled guilty to one count of child abuse Friday.
Jeremy Yachik was fired after he allegedly admitted to abusing a 15-year-old girl. The case led to the resignation of the police chief.
According to an arrest affidavit, Yachik abused the victim almost daily for years including tying her up with handcuffs or plastic zip ties and slamming her head into a wall.
The victim also told police that Yachik beat her with ropes, restricted her food and locked her in a dark room for hours.
FOX31 Denver talked to the victim several months ago and was given a video tape allegedly of Yachik abusing her.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 18.
