LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Firefighters and police responded to a minor explosion at the Crossland extended stay hotel near West Eighth Avenue and Kipling Street on Wednesday afternoon, the Lakewood Police Department said Wednesday.

Police said they believed a butane tank exploded on the second floor of the hotel.

West Metro Fire said two people suffered minor injuries. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
