ARVADA, Colo. — Fire caused major damage to a house in Arvada late Tuesday afternoon.

Smoke was billowing from the neighborhood near West 66th Place and Estes just before 4:30 p.m.

Firefighters could be seen attacking the fire from the front of the house, flames had already spread inside the home. The smoke could be seen for miles around.

“We did start with a defensive strategy which means we didn’t go inside the home because the flames were just that significant,” Arvada Fire spokesperson Michelle Cherniski said.

Arvada Fire indicated there were no injuries reported.

It’s not known yet how the fire started.

“One of the rooms just has some smoke damage but the rest is in pretty bad condition,” Cherniski said.

The Red Cross also responded to the fire and is providing assistance to the two adults who live there.
