DENVER -- One firefighter suffered a minor injury while fighting a fire in east Denver on Thursday afternoon. It happened at a home at East 25th Avenue and Kearney Street.
The Denver Fire Department received the first call just after 2:30 p.m. Crews quickly extinguished the flames. One firefighter suffered a cut on his hand. He did not need to go to the hospital.
Investigators said the fire started in the attic and firefighters fought it from outside because of the danger of a roof collapse.
Transients had been staying in the house, which has otherwise been vacant for 15 years, Denver Fire said.
