COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — A pair of fifth-graders were missing for most of the day Thursday after they walked away from Monaco Elementary School in Commerce City, Adams County School District 14 confirmed.

The two boys were reported missing about 9:15 a.m. They were found safe shortly after 4:30 p.m., school officials said.

The children left school grounds on their own, according to an Adams 14 spokesperson. The school sent out an emergency auto dial to the surrounding community searching for them.
