DENVER — The man who fell about 60 feet over a stairwell railing after Monday night’s Broncos game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High has died, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner said Tuesday.

The man, whose name and age have not been released, fell in the north side of the stadium just after the game ended about 9:45 p.m., the Denver Fire Department said.

The man was taken to Denver Health Medical Center. Officials at the hospital only said it received one patient from the stadium. It’s not known when the man died.

Ambulances and first responders were outside Gate 5 at the stadium after the incident.

The Denver Police Department said it is investigating the fall as a nontraffic accident, which is standard protocol. It said the initial investigation shows the man was sitting on the railing and then fell about 60 feet.

Witnesses and emergency personnel quickly gave aid to the man before he was taken to Denver Health where he was later pronounced dead.

“A fan was taken to the hospital after falling over a stairwell railing at Sports Authority Field at Mile High shortly after Monday night’s game,” Stadium Management Company, which operates the stadium, said in a statement.

“Our thoughts are with the injured fan, and we are in the process of learning more about this incident from the Denver Police Department’s investigation.”
