BOULDER, Colo. -- It's a tale of Shawn and Sean. On the one hand, there is little Shawn, a passenger in a car, hit by a truck.  Probably too young to remember what happened Monday night on 19th street in Boulder.

Then there is 43-year-old Sean Marino. The driver accused of hitting little Shawn's parents' car on 19th street, along with 8 other vehicles. He is now in jail, facing charges ranging from driving under the influence to reckless driving.

Shawn's parents were coming home from dinner when they turned onto 19th St.  They never saw the Ford F-150 coming. The new family VW Passat, badly damaged.  "The car seat saved his life," says Katie Lankford, little Shawn's mother. The family is shaken, but going to be alright.

The elder Sean Marino remains behind bars on $50,000 bond.
