EVERGREEN, Colo. — The family dog that attacked a 14-month-old boy was euthanized at the request of the owner Saturday.

According to a tweet from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the 5-year-old, 70 pound American Bulldog was humanely put down Saturday.

The owner of the animal was present for the procedure, tweeted deputies.

After the procedure, deputies said the dog will be submitted to state lab to rule out the possibility of Rabies.

Deputies expressed condolences for all involved parties involved.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office sent out a tweet, saying the young victim had been attacked in the 4700 block of Pine Road, which is just south of Evergreen Lake and just east of Evergreen Golf Course.

The 14-month-old was airlifted away from the scene of the attack, straight to Children’s Hospital in Aurora.

Saturday afternoon, the sheriff’s office tweeted that the child’s condition had not changed or been updated.

The family has not been identified yet.
