JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. -- A herd of elk halted traffic on Interstate 70 near El Rancho a few times Friday morning.

FOX31 Denver's Ken Clark says he watched large numbers of elk cross the freeway on one of the Colorado Department of Transportation cameras at that location.

A group of them crossed while he was doing one of his Time Saver traffic reports on Good Day Colorado at about 8:30 a.m.

Drivers stopped to let the animals cross. It appeared some of the drivers got out of their vehicles to take pictures and get a better look at the elk.
