COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – An elderly man shot at a man police said was intoxicated when trying to enter his home early Saturday morning.
Just after 1 a.m., police were called to the 400 block of West Platte Ave. on a report of a burglary in progress.
While headed to the location, officers were informed that the 80-year-old homeowner had fired his shotgun at the suspect through the door.
Upon arriving at the home, police found the suspect on the front porch uninjured.
According to Colorado Springs police blotter, the suspect had recently moved into a home one block from the victim’s residence, and was “extremely intoxicated and attempted to force entry into the victim’s house.”
That’s when the elderly man became alarmed and fired a single shot over the suspect’s head.
The suspect was taken jail on an unrelated outstanding traffic warrant, according to police.
There were no injuries reported during the incident.
No charges have been filed at this time, pending further investigation of the situation.
