ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two men behind a violent case of road rage after another man was stabbed in the middle of a busy intersection.

It happened about 2 p.m. Wednesday at Federal Boulevard and West 64th Avenue. Several witnesses told authorities a man driving a black Ford pickup truck had a cardboard box full of several items slide out and onto the road.

“You could see the anger. I mean, yeah, he slammed on his brakes, threw it in park and just jumped out. He was out before it even stopped,” said Darryl Morris, a witness who was sitting in traffic when the road rage incident began.

Witnesses said the driver of the truck got out of the vehicle and threw something at a blue BMW car behind him. That action allegedly prompted a passenger in the BMW to approach the man. Witnesses said it appeared the two were about to fight.

“They started meeting each other like they were going to throw punches and they got out and the dude, just like that, fell onto the ground,” said Dusty Barben, who witnessed the attack.

Investigators said the man in the BMW stabbed the driver of the pickup. Witnesses said the weapon was a pair of scissors, although that’s a detail the sheriff’s office would not confirm.

The violence didn’t end with the stabbing. Barben said the driver of the BMW then started stomping the victim’s head into the ground.

“He was booting him, bam, bam, just booting him. It was crazy,” Barben said.

The two men then got back into the car and sped away, leaving witnesses stunned and a man seriously injured on the road, waiting for paramedics to arrive.

“Everybody started getting out of their cars trying to do something about it,”  Barben said.

That man was rushed to the hospital. His name and condition have not been released.

The sheriff’s office said the men in the BMW are both Hispanic and looked to be in their early 20s. The BMW did not have a license plate, just a temporary tag in the back window.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
