COLORADO SPRINGS — Ricardo Figueroa was just a few months away from starting high school when his life ended tragically on a Colorado Springs street Thursday evening.
Investigators say the 14-year-old was crossing South Circle Ave. when he was hit by a truck. The driver stopped for a moment, and then took off.
Figueroa was rushed to a local hospital and died a short time later.
“He was going to play soccer next year in high school,” said one classmate who visited the site of the accident Friday. “We would have been his biggest fans.”
Police say the suspect is a white male driving a mid-to-late 80’s GMC or Chevy truck, gray or light in color, with front-end damage on the left side.
Colorado state law says if you hit someone while driving and leave, and that victim dies, you face felony charges.
