DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Students at Ponderosa High School in Douglas County staged a walkout Wednesday, demanding to know why so many teachers are leaving the district.

Students said the school lost at least 33 teachers in the past three years.

“Why are our teachers leaving?” junior Bailey Conrad asked. “Why are they saying that this district is really bad for them and they’re unhappy in it?”

Douglas County Schools Superintendent Liz Fagen said administrators try to resolve any differences between the district and the teachers but also support teachers who are looking for other opportunities.
